Project Overview
Client Need:
The homeowner owned a home with an unfinished basement space that she wanted to convert into a separate living area for a roommate. The basement was essentially a blank slate. An empty, unfinished space with only the basics there. The homeowner contacted us to bring that vision to life while working within their budget.
How We Helped:
The homeowner first contacted us through Angie's List, she had a clear vision of what she wanted to achieve, but she needed a contractor who could bring that vision to life while working within her budget.
The basement was truly a blank slate. It was an empty, unfinished space with concrete block walls, There were no walls, no insulation, no plumbing infrastructure, and no finished surfaces.
The project scope was extensive. We began by cutting a channel into the concrete floor to accommodate new plumbing lines. This was necessary because the basement had no existing bathroom plumbing infrastructure whatsoever. The new plumbing had to connect to the main stack to handle waste water and connect to water supply lines for all the fixtures. This concrete work required precision and careful planning to ensure proper slope and connections.
Once the framing and insulation were complete, we installed drywall, painted the walls. All bathroom fixtures were installed, including toilet, sink, and shower, completing the functional bathroom space.
The homeowner was very budget-conscious throughout the process. Rather than pushing expensive options, we did our best in helping them find reliable products that would work well in the space while staying within their budget.
The project took about two months, and the transformation was impressive. What had been an empty, unfinished basement became a functional, livable space with a complete bathroom. The space now serves as a separate living area for a roommate, providing the privacy needed for comfortable living arrangements. The laundry facilities remain accessible, and the finished space feels like a real living area, not just a basement.
